About MoMA

MoMA was founded in 1929 by a group of influential people, including Abby Aldrich Rockefeller and Lillie P. Bliss.
Its mission is to collect, preserve, and display contemporary and modern art, making it accessible to the public.

MoMA’s collection includes a diverse range of art forms: paintings,
sculptures, drawings, photographs, design objects and more.

MoMA was the first museum in the world devoted solely to modern art.

Some of the world’s most famous works of art are housed in MoMA, such as Van Gogh’s The Starry Night, Picasso’s Les Demoiselles d’Avignon, Claude Monet’s Water Lilies works by Jackson Pollock, and Rothko’s large-scale chromatic canvases.

The ticket includes access to all galleries and to MoMA PS1 located in Queens.

The Museum of Modern Art in NYC hosts temporary exhibitions in addition to its permanent collection. These exhibitions often showcase the works of contemporary artists and explore various themes and art movements.

MoMA offers workshops, lectures, and guided tours to help people better understand and appreciate modern and contemporary art.

In 2019, MoMA underwent a major renovation and expansion project that increased its gallery space. The project aimed to enhance the museum’s ability to display its extensive collection and provide an improved visitor experience.
